Chalkboard all around

This weekend while I was in the land of Pinterest I found these fun ideas on chalkboard. You can paint chalkboard on almost anything, things I wouldn't even think of painting. I love that the kids can write on it, it can be used for lists, or labeling and that you can turn just about any surface into chalkboard. There are so many uses for chalkboard.....who knew....

Pallet Garden

I have a total black thumb...however I am always lusting over beautiful backyards. Lately I have been seeing a lot of pallet gardens...and I began to think perhaps it was something small scale I could tackle. First task was finding the perfect pallet...

Found it!!! even gizmo likes it :)

Then I had to deciede from the many ideas I pinned on Pinterest which one would be perfect in my backyard...once I determined that then it was time for plants and pots...

Cactus and other succulents are pretty hard to kill so I figured they are the best option for a start planter

So with all the items ready all I needed to do was put it together...easier said then done...however with a little help from some friends...( thanks Iggy and Mo ) I completed my planter!

Crafting for Valentine's Day

It's February already, the month of LOVE, the month to do fun crafts and make sweet treats for the ones we love. Valentine's Day isn't one of my favorite holidays but I do enjoy it for what it is and of course having two little ones who love to celebrate any holiday make it that much more fun. This past week I made a few little "V" day banners after some inspiration I received in the form of a gift from my sweet friend Vanessa. She made me this cute banner.

 After an hour of cutting over 50 of these felt circles

I made a cute felt flower ball...

Taelor wanted a banner for her bed so of course we made one

And how could I not make one for Ethan too...



It's fun to decorate for a holiday even if it's just a little banner to brighten up a room and to see a smile on your child's face when it's done.

The Sewing Attic

About 3 months ago my friend jenny told me about this sewing class she goes to once a week for two hours...I was totally intrigued I have a sewing machine but my skills are limited. I emailed the teacher the next day and after a few weeks on a waiting list I got a spot. Ever since I have been spending my tues night sewing....I just finished my lastest project a baseball backpack for Angels games!

Christmas Card Book

I LOVE Christmas cards, I love getting them in the mail throughout December. I love seeing how families have grown and how big all the children are getting of the people I know. I love the thoughtfulness of others to send you warm holiday wishes for the season. A few months back I saw on Pinterest all the great ideas of what to do with your Christmas cards when the season is over. So I dug out all my Christmas cards back to 2006 and organized them and put them together by year in their own albums and had them on display in a Christmas basket throughout this season. It was fun looking back at all the cards we have received over the last 6 years, and what good were they doing in the abyss of a drawer all these years! So as this season came to a close and the Christmas decorations came down a few days ago, I finished up our 2011 Christmas Card album before I stored them away in the decorations box until I pull them out again next holiday season. 



Just 2 hold punches and 2 ring binders...simple and easy

Yarn wrapped letters...JOY

This is such an easy project to do with your kids, yarn wrapped cardboard letters. I cut out small letters JOY from an empty cereal box, gave my kiddos some yarn and they wrapped the letters ( I did the O it was a bit harder to wrap). They may not look "perfect" but they are perfect enough for me, and Christmas time always reminds me of the word JOY! Oh the endless possibilities with this!

Christmas Craft

This weekend I finally finished my snowmen ornaments, I had been seeing ideas on pinterest for yarn poms and I thought how cute would yarn pom snowmen be..........super cheap and easy.


Basic white yarn and a plastic fork wrap yarn around fork then slip piece of yarn thru and fork and tie in middle

Slip off fork cut the side and tada a cute little pom

Hot Glue 3 poms together add some red ribbon

Toothpick nose, puffy pant buttons and eyes cute ribbon loop for hanging on the tree!
